This hand carved women statue was (most likely) a decoration attachment on a piece of furniture or door or window. The back has a carved slot for adhering to another piece of wood/furniture etc. Her head was broken off and reattached prior to my ownership. As many of my other pieces, the wood is most likely Chinese Elm. When I lived in Taiwan (1980's) , I found her facial expression unique/almost human like and purchased the item from what then was considered an antique store. The age of this item is unknown but it has been in my procession for @ 40 years. A collectible statue.
